What is holistic massage?

Holistic massage is a type of massage therapy that goes beyond just addressing physical tension or pain. It views the body, mind, emotions, and spirit as interconnected, aiming to promote overall well-being rather than just relieving muscle soreness. The word “holistic” comes from the Greek “holos,” meaning “whole,” reflecting the approach’s focus on treating the person as a complete system. It is a nurturing therapy that can be used for sheer relaxation, or reduce pain. It can help many conditions including carpel tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, migraines, sciatica and muscle pain.

Healing touch & reiki

Energy Work

A gentle, non-invasive therapy blending healing touch & reiki to rebalance your energy, ease pain and help your body regulate itself.

Can help with

  • Stress & burnout
  • Emotional balance
  • Fatigue
  • Pain relief
  • Deep relaxation
  • Gentle & non-invasiveEnergy work is a non-invasive energy therapy where practitioners use their hands to influence the energy field around the body, and channel healing energy into the recipient through gentle touch or by hovering their hands over the body.
  • Promotes RelaxationEnergy work is known to activate the body’s natural relaxation response. This helps reduce levels of stress while promoting the release of feel-good chemicals, such as endorphins. By harmonising the body’s vibrational frequencies, energy work induces a deep state of calm and balance.
  • Reduces PainBy lowering stress and anxiety levels, energy work can help alleviate pain perception. The induced state of relaxation allows the body to shift away from the “fight or flight” mode, which often exacerbates pain and inflammation. By addressing blockages in the body’s energy flow, it aims to restore balance, which can lead to improved physical comfort and a higher quality of life.
  • Accelerates HealingEnergy work supports the body’s internal healing processes by removing energetic blockages that may impede recovery. Can improve immune function and mood, creating an internal environment conducive to faster healing. Energy is channelled to the client, which may help restore the body’s natural energy field and support physical and emotional well-being
What is energy work?

Energy work refers to a broad range of practices that focus on manipulating, balancing, or enhancing the body’s energy fields to promote physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual well-being. These practices are rooted in the idea that everything in the universe—including the human body—is made up of energy, and that imbalances or blockages in this energy can lead to illness or discomfort.

Eva practices a blend of healing touch and reiki.

Myofascial release

Fascia is a three-dimensional network of connective tissue

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a unique and powerful therapeutic approach that can alleviate both chronic and acute pain, as well as deep-seated tension. When performed correctly, it is highly effective for addressing complex pain conditions and can be beneficial for individuals who may not respond well to or find regular massage too painful.

Can help with

  • Long lasting pain after an injury regular massage can't seem to touch
  • Release tension and help relaxation
  • Usually recommended for frozen shoulder
  • Immediate pain reliefMyofascial Release has demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in reducing chronic pain associated with conditions such as low back pain. By targeting and releasing restrictions in the fascia, this therapeutic approach enhances blood circulation and helps decrease inflammation, ultimately providing significant pain relief.
  • Stress ReliefThis form of massage offers profound relaxation, which can significantly lower stress levels. By addressing both the physical and emotional components of tension, myofascial release therapy fosters a deep sense of calm and overall well-being.
  • Injury Prevention and recovery Everyone can benefit from maintaining healthy fascia. It promotes quicker recovery from muscle strain or injuries. Conditions like hernias are often the result of a weak fascia or opening in your muscle tissue that allow an organ to poke through your abdominal wall, so maintaining a healthy fascia helps prevent this type of condition, as well as keeps your body more ready to take on life's challenges.
  • Freedom of movement.Myofascial release unravels your fascia, allowing wider range of motion, not only after an injury but from releasing the tension we all accumulate through every day life. From shoulder to hip, it helps your body regain openness.
What is fascia?

Fascia is the three-dimensional network of connective tissue that runs throughout the entire body, enveloping organs and muscle fibres. When we experience physical or emotional trauma, our bodies often respond by tensing up, which can cause the fascia to tighten and restrict movement. This constriction can lead to persistent pain that is challenging to treat. Importantly, standard diagnostic tests like MRIs, CAT scans, and X-rays cannot detect these fascial restrictions, which are frequently the underlying cause of long-standing, unexplained pain resulting from trauma.

FAQ

Questions before your first session?

What is the difference between holistic massage and a regular massage?

A holistic massage looks at the person as a whole, rather than just a sore muscle. It understands that the underlying tension or pain in your body might be not only related to a physical cause but to a psychosomatic one as well. It combines classic Swedish massage techniques with a whole-body approach. The session is adapted to how your body and mind feel that day — whether you need deep relaxation or targeted pain relief.

Can massage help with back pain, sciatica or migraines?

Many people come for exactly that. Holistic massage can help with muscle pain, stiff backs and shoulders, sciatica, migraines, frozen shoulder and carpal tunnel syndrome. It is a complement to, not a replacement for, medical care — if you have a diagnosed condition, please mention it when you book.

What is energy work, and what will I feel?

Energy work is a gentle, non-invasive therapy combining healing touch with reiki. Hands rest lightly on the body or hover just above it to help rebalance your energy field. Most people simply feel deeply relaxed; some notice warmth or tingling. You stay fully clothed.

Which treatment should I choose?

If you have a specific ache or tension, or just feel the need to be pampered, choose a massage — 30 minutes for one area, 1 hour for the full body. If you feel stressed, drained or out of balance, try energy work. Not sure? The 1-hour massage + energy work (45 + 15 minutes) gives you the best of both.

What happens during my first session?

We start with a short chat about how you feel, any health concerns and what you would like to work on. Then you relax on the table while the session is adapted to what your body needs. There is always time for questions at the end.
